GAME PREVIEW: Blackfalds VS Olds

Game Preview: The Blackfalds Bulldogs will look to rebound Friday night at the Eagle Builders Centre versus the Olds Grizzlys. The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-1 setback Jan. 29 at home against the Okotoks Oilers. The Bulldogs are holding down sixth in the AJHL South with their 20-27-1 record.

The Bulldogs have won all four previous meetings this season with the Grizzlys. Blackfalds took the last contest 3-1 Jan. 22 at the Eagle Builders Centre.

The Olds Grizzlys search for the second straight win Friday night in Blackfalds after beating the Oilers in Okotoks 3-1 Tuesday. The Grizzlys are last in the AJHL South with their 7-36-5 record. Olds has won two of its last three games.

Props for Poffenroth: Blackfalds Bulldogs forward Connor Poffenroth is heating up. The Okotoks, AB product will look to extend his two-game point streak Friday night versus the Olds Grizzlys. The 18-year-old has three points in his last two games – he has also recorded 15 points in 35 games with the Bulldogs this season.  

Whale of a Game: Olds goaltender Jared Whale had a big outing Tuesday in Okotoks when he backstopped the Grizzlys to a 3-1 victory with a 29-save performance. The Calgary, AB product has two wins in his last three starts. He was acquired by Olds earlier this season from the Brooks Bandits.

Up Next: Following Friday’s game at home with the Olds Grizzlys, the Blackfalds Bulldogs will conclude their weekend Saturday at the Eagle Builders Centre when they welcome the Drumheller Dragons to town for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
