GAME PREVIEW: Blackfalds @ Canmore

Game Preview: The Blackfalds Bulldogs will try and end a three-game losing streak Thursday in Canmore when they clash with the Eagles. The Bulldogs have been idle since Dec. 18 when they dropped a 3-2 decision at home to the Grande Prairie Storm. Blackfalds sits sixth in the AJHL South with its 13-20-1 record.

The Canmore Eagles will look for their third straight win when they entertain the Bulldogs. The Eagles are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Canucks back on Dec. 18. Canmore is holding down fifth in the AJHL South with its 13-18-6 mark.

Thursday’s matchup between the Bulldogs and the Eagles is the last one of the regular season between the southern rivals. Blackfalds has posted a 2-2-1 record versus Canmore so far. The Eagles took the last meeting 3-2 Dec. 10 at the Eagle Builders Centre.

Iron Men: Just four members of the Blackfalds Bulldogs have appeared in all 34 regular season games this season. Brett Meerman, Jayden Joly, Spencer Bell and Ethan Lund will put their streaks on the line Thursday in Canmore.

Schaeffer: Canmore Eagles forward Ethan Schaeffer has four points in his last two games. The Lake Country, B.C. product had two goals and one assist Dec. 18 versus the Calgary Canucks. Schaeffer scored twice against Blackfalds back on Nov. 24 at the Eagle Builders Centre when the Eagles topped the Bulldogs 4-3 in overtime.

Up Next: After Thursday’s game in Canmore, the Bulldogs are back at home Dec. 31 when they host the Brooks Bandits. Friday’s contest with Brooks is slated to get underway at 5 p.m. from the Eagle Builders Centre. The Bulldogs conclude their weekend Jan. 2 on the road in Camrose when they take on the Kodiaks at 2 p.m.
