GAME PREVIEW: Blackfalds @ Calgary

Game Preview: The Blackfalds Bulldogs will be looking for their second straight win after beating the Wolverines in Whitecourt last Saturday 3-2 in overtime. Blackfalds has picked up four wins in its last six games. The Bulldogs find themselves in fifth in the AJHL South with their 6-10 record.

The Calgary Canucks will also try for their second consecutive victory. Calgary is coming off a 4-0 win Wednesday at home versus the Bonnyville Pontiacs. The Canucks are seventh in the AJHL South with their 5-12-2 record.

The season series between the Bulldogs and the Canucks is even at one game apiece. Blackfalds took the last meeting 6-2 in Calgary Oct. 15. The Bulldogs will play the Canucks six times during the 2021-22 AJHL season.

Young Acquired: The Blackfalds Bulldogs announced Wednesday they have acquired 2001-born goalie Joseph Young from the SJHL’s Weyburn Red Wings in exchange for 2002-born forward Jackson Ferry, a player development fee and future considerations.

During his 18-year-old season in Weyburn, the Regina, SK product posted a 2.63 GAA and .924 save percentage. For his efforts, he was named to the SJHL All-Rookie Team.

Looking Ahead: After Friday’s matchup in Calgary, the Bulldogs will complete their weekend in Brooks Saturday when they meet the Bandits for the third time this season.
