Bulldogs win fourth straight

The Blackfalds Bulldogs recorded their fourth straight win Saturday at home when they tamed the Olds Grizzlys 3-1.

Blackfalds opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the game when Brett Meerman rifled home his 17th of the season past Marek Andres, who turned away 39 shots in a losing cause.

The Grizzlys tied the game at one 4:13 into the second after Colby Browne beat Jackson Glassford, who stopped 24 shots for the win. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 advantage 13:23 into the frame on the power play when Jason Siedem hammered in his 10th of the campaign.

Spencer Bell added another goal for Blackfalds 14:07 into the third period as the Bulldogs beat the Grizzlys for the second straight evening at the Eagle Builders Centre.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 19-25-1 on the season, which has them in sixth in the AJHL South.

Blackfalds will look for its fifth consecutive win Tuesday in Drumheller versus the Dragons.

Following Tuesday’s contest in Drumheller, the Bulldogs will host the Dragons Jan. 28 and the Okotoks Oilers Jan. 29.
