The Blackfalds Bulldogs returned to the win column Friday in Calgary when they beat the Canucks 6-2.

Spencer Bell got Blackfalds on the board 14:25 into the first period on the power play when he ripped home his second of the season past Ian Mills, who made 36 saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs pulled ahead 2-0 4:12 into the second after Kaiden Bugera sent a seeing-eye shot into the back of the cage for his second of the campaign. Justin Barker gave Calgary some life with 2:58 remaining in the second when he beat Lucas Massie, who made 31 saves for the win.

Blackfalds restored the two-goal lead 5:03 into the third on the man advantage after Ryan Johnson blasted home his fourth of the season from the left circle. The Canucks did not fold up shop though as Justin Barker tallied shortly after, making it a 3-2 game.

The Bulldogs took a 4-2 advantage 7:46 into the third when Ryan Johnson netted his second of the evening off the post and in. Brett Meerman would connect on the power play 13:45 into the final frame, giving the Bulldogs some breathing room and a 5-2 lead. Kaiden Bugera finished off the scoring with 1:36 remining for his second marker of the night.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-8 on the campaign. Blackfalds will look to keep things rolling Saturday in Spruce Grove when they take on the Saints for the first time this season. You can catch Saturday’s matchup on the Bulldogs Radio Network with Braden Malsbury.

Following Saturday’s game, the Bulldogs will host the Whitecourt Wolverines Thursday at Servus Arena in Red Deer.
