Bulldogs tame Kodiaks

The Blackfalds Bulldogs picked up their second straight win Saturday at home when they tamed the Camrose Kodiaks 5-2.

The Kodiaks opened the scoring 8:27 into the game when Noah Alvarez tallied his fifth of the season. Camrose took a 2-0 advantage 19:19 into the second stanza after Michael Lovsin found the back of the net shorthanded. Brett Meerman tallied on the power play with 20 seconds left in the first when he banked home his fifth of the season, making it a 2-1 contest.

Blackfalds tied the game at two 11:22 into the second frame when Tye Carriere fed Jason Siedem, who sent his third of the season past Logan Wilcott.

Jayden Joly gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the game 2:23 into the third when he netted his fifth of the season. Blackfalds went up 4-2 after Adam Heindel sent a seeing-eye shot upstairs at the 3:45 mark of the frame. Spencer Bell added an empty-netter with five seconds remaining to put the icing on the cake.

Lucas Massie was spectacular for the Bulldogs, turning away 40 shots for his fifth straight victory. The California product has recorded seven wins in his last nine starts.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 10-12 on the campaign, which has them in fifth in the AJHL South.

Blackfalds will look for its third straight win next Wednesday at the Eagle Builders Centre when they welcome the Canmore Eagles to town.
