The Blackfalds Bulldogs needed some overtime magic Saturday night to tame the Canmore Eagles 4-3 at the Eagle Builders Centre.
Neither team would find the back of the net in the first frame.
The Eagles opened the scoring 48 seconds into the second frame when Isaac Suppin beat Lucas Massie, who made 28 stops for the victory. Blackfalds tied the game at one 11:07 into the second when Jason Siedem picked up a loose puck and wired home his fifth of the season. Just over a minute later, Canmore took a 2-1 lead after Max Monette tallied.
Blackfalds tied the game at two 2:34 into the third when Carter Yarish sent a backhand past Andreai Proctor-Ramirez, who turned away 15 shots in the loss. The Eagles took a 3-2 advantage 3:09 into the period after Max Monette tipped in his second of the evening. Brett Meerman tied the game at three on the power play with 52 seconds left when he poked the puck into the back of the cage.
Regulation solved nothing, so the Bulldogs and Eagles needed some overtime for the second time this week. Just 54 seconds into the extra session, Brett Meerman walked down the left side and beat Proctor-Ramirez for the second time Saturday.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 11-13-1, which moved them back into fifth in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will look for its second straight win Wednesday in Brooks when they take on the Bandits for the fourth time this season.
