Bulldogs lose in Brooks

The Blackfalds Bulldogs dropped a 6-1 decision Wednesday in Brooks to the Bandits.

Liam Hughes, Ryan McAllister and Jack Seymour scored for the Bandits before the game was seven minutes old. Blackfalds was outshot 12-5 in the opening stanza and went into the room after 20 minutes trailing the Bandits 3-0.

Jack Seymour notched his second of the evening 18:04 into the second, which gave the Bandits a 4-0 advantage. Boston Buckberger tapped home his ninth of the campaign at the 19:01 mark of the frame, making it a 5-0 contest.

The Bulldogs would get on the board when Tye Carriere found the back of the net 1:05 into the third. Brooks took a 6-1 lead 9:34 into the third after Ryan McAllister scored his second of the night.

Lucas Massie made 28 saves in a losing cause, while Jared Whale turned away 28 shots for the victory.

With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 11-14-1 on the season, which has them in sixth in the AJHL South.

Blackfalds will look to rebound on Friday night at home when they host the Drayton Valley Thunder at 7 p.m. Friday’s game is Toque, Mitt and Teddy Bear Toss Night. Bring those items to the game and throw them on the ice after the Bulldogs score their first goal.  

Following Friday’s tilt with the Thunder, the Bulldogs make the trek to Lloydminster Saturday.
