The Blackfalds Bulldogs suffered their fourth straight setback Thursday in Canmore when they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Eagles.
The Eagles got on the board 15:37 into the first period when Nathan Ellis fed Kayden Smith, who beat Lucas Massie. Massie would end up making 23 saves in a losing cause.
Canmore made it a 2-0 game 2:46 into the second after Nick Anisimovicz tallied. Anisimovicz notched his second of the evening 8:37 into the frame, making it a 3-0 contest. Brayden Plaschewsky gave the Eagles a 4-0 edge 18:03 into the stanza on the power play.
Blackfalds finally got on the board 2:43 into the third when Connor Poffenroth beat Andreai Proctor-Ramirez for his third of the season. Proctor-Ramirez had an outstanding game for the Eagles and ended up turning away 35 shots in the victory.
With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 13-21-1 on the campaign, which has them in sixth place in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will look to rebound Friday night on home ice when they entertain the Brooks Bandits at the Eagle Builders Centre. Friday’s matchup gets underway at 5 p.m.
Following Friday’s game, the Bulldogs close out their weekend Sunday afternoon in Camrose when they battle the Kodiaks at 2 p.m.
