Bulldogs end 2021 with loss to Brooks

The Blackfalds Bulldogs ended 2021 with a 6-3 loss Friday night at home to the top-ranked Brooks Bandits.

Brett Meerman scored twice for the Bulldogs, while Jason Siedem also found the back of the net. Lucas Massie made 34 saves in a losing cause.

Ethan Mercer scored twice for the Bandits, while Dario Beljo, Ethan Lund, T.J. Hughes and Nicholas DeGraves also connected Friday. Ethan Barwick was not particularly busy – and he only had to make 17 saves for the victory in the Brooks net.

With the loss, the Bulldogs are now riding a five-game losing streak. Blackfalds still sits in sixth place in the AJHL South with its 13-22-1 record though.

The Bulldogs will look to get back on track Sunday in Camrose when they take on the Kodiaks at 2 p.m. You can catch Sunday’s game on the Bulldogs Radio Network with Braden Malsbury.

Blackfalds will play its next home game Jan. 8 when the Calgary Canucks come to the Eagle Builders Centre for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
