The Blackfalds Bulldogs edged the Drumheller Dragons 8-7 in overtime Friday night at the Eagle Builders Centre.
The Bulldogs sent the fans home happy just 40 seconds into the extra session when Adam Heindel smacked home his second of the evening past Eric Ward.
Kobe Assam, Deegan Mofford, Spencer Bell, Brett Meerman, Carter Yarish and Jayden Joly had the other goals for Blackfalds Friday. Affiliate goalie Madden Mulawka got the start for Blackfalds and he ended up making 27 saves for his first AJHL win.
Luke Fennig and Myles Hilman both scored twice for the Dragons, while Tanner Willick, Vann Yuhas and Carter Belitski rounded out the scoring. Garrett Fuller turned away 18 shots in a losing cause in the Drumheller net. Fuller was replaced by Eric Ward late in the third stanza.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 20-26-1 on the campaign, which still has them in sixth in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will look for its second straight victory Saturday on home ice when they welcome the Okotoks Oilers to the Eagle Builders Centre for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
