The Blackfalds Bulldogs returned to the win column when they dumped the Pontiacs 4-2 in Bonnyville Friday night.
The Pontiacs opened the scoring 2:33 into the first frame on the power play when Kash Rasmussen directed home his sixth of the season. The Bulldogs tied the game at one 7:36 into the first when Spencer Bell sent a rocket upstairs past Matthew Hennessey, who made 25 saves in a losing cause.
Blackfalds took a 2-1 advantage 10:40 into the game when Juliano Santalucia picked the puck up off a turnover and found the back of the net for the first time this season. The Pontiacs tied the game at two 16:59 into the first after Sebastian Tamburro tallied.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second period. The Bulldogs took a 3-2 advantage 7:13 into the third after Brett Meerman found Brendan Ross, who notched his first AJHL marker when he went upstairs on Hennessey. Tye Carriere would add his sixth of the season 12:27 into the third to give the Bulldogs some insurance and a 4-2 lead. The Pontiacs would pull their goalie late, but they weren’t able to find the back of the net. Lucas Massie made 33 saves for his sixth win of the season.
With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 8-11 on the campaign, which has them back in fifth in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will look for its second straight win Saturday in Fort McMurray when they meet the Oil Barons for the second time this season.
