The Blackfalds Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday in Okotoks when they dumped the Oilers 4-3.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring 5:58 into the game on the power play when Nick Magis wired home his eighth of the season past Jack McNaughton, who made 12 in the loss. The Oilers tied the game at one 10:56 into the first on the man advantage when Rieger Lorenz beat Lucas Massie from the left circle. Massie would go on to make 27 saves for his 11th win of the season.
Blackfalds took a 2-1 lead 9:30 into the second when Brett Meerman scored on a wraparound shorthanded. The Bulldogs went up 3-1 when Adam Heindel sent a seeing-eye shot from the point past McNaughton at the 11:26 mark of the period.
Blackfalds made it a 4-1 game 8:19 into the third after Brendan Ross recorded his third of the campaign. Bowden Singleton would score twice later in the third, but that’s as close as the Oilers would get Saturday.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 13-17-1 on the season, which has them in sixth place in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will look for its second straight win Wednesday at the Eagle Builders Centre when they take on the Camrose Kodiaks for the third time this season.
