The Blackfalds Bulldogs returned to the win column Friday night in Okotoks when they dumped the Oilers 5-2.
Blackfalds opened the scoring 11:50 into the game when Spencer Bell wired a rebound past Jack McNaughton, who made 33 saves in a losing cause.
The Bulldogs took a 2-0 advantage 12:29 into the first after Jason Siedem potted his 16th of the campaign. The Bulldogs went up 3-0 14:04 into the frame when Kaiden Ellertson danced into the Okotoks zone and rifled home his fourth of the season.
Blackfalds went up 4-0 just 3:05 into the second period on the power play when Brett Meerman recorded his 25th of the season at the side of the net.
Rieger Lorenz and Sam Huck would score in the third for the Oilers, but that’s as close as they would get. Tye Carriere notched his 18th of the season 16:33 into the third, which sealed the victory for the Bulldogs.
Lucas Massie was brilliant, making 38 saves for his 15th win of the season. Blackfalds defenecman Adam Heindel tallied three assists Friday evening.
With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 28-30-1 on the campaign, which still has them in fifth in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will conclude its regular season schedule Saturday at home versus the Okotoks Oilers. If the Bulldogs can beat the Oilers in regulation, they will get home-ice advantage versus Okotoks in the opening round of the AJHL playoffs.
The AJHL playoffs are slated to open March 4.
