The Blackfalds Bulldogs dropped a 4-2 decision to the visiting Lloydminster Bobcats at the Eagle Builders Centre Friday night.
Ben Bygrove opened the scoring 2:06 into the game when he beat Lucas Massie, who made 11 saves in the loss. Chad MacLean and Ethan Aucoin scored late power play goals in the first period as the Bobcats went into the second frame with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.
Blackfalds would eventually get on the board 18:32 into the second period when Tye Carriere solved Freddie Halyk for his ninth of the campaign. Halyk ended up turning away 21 shots in the win.
The Bulldogs cut the lead to one when Brett Meerman smacked home his 10th of the season 13:45 into the third period. Tanner Fincaryk added an empty-netter with 10 seconds remaining to seal the deal for Lloydminster.
With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 13-19-1 on the campaign, which has them in the sixth place in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will play its last game before the Christmas break Saturday when they host the Grande Prairie Storm at 6 p.m. at the Eagle Builders Centre.
