Bulldogs drop close one in Drayton Valley

The Blackfalds Bulldogs dropped a 4-3 decision Friday night in Drayton Valley.

The Thunder opened the scoring 2:12 into the game when Jack Silverberg beat Lucas Massie, who made 22 saves in the loss. Drayton Valley took a 2-0 advantage after Silverberg notched his second of the evening 17:38 into the first.

The Thunder went up 3-0 on the power play 3:44 into the second when Brett Bamber beat Massie five-hole on the ice.

Blackfalds showed some life 8:55 into the third when Ethan Lund danced around in the Drayton Valley zone and fired his third of the season past Jackson Berry, who made 31 saves for the win. Kadyn Chabot scored at the 15:36 mark, which gave the Thunder a 4-1 advantage.

Ryan Johnson wired home his tenth of the season on the power play 17:24 into the third from the left circle, making it a 4-2 contest. Just 31 seconds later, Jayden Joly drove home his seventh of the campaign on the man advantage, but that was as close as the Bulldogs would get.

With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 10-13-1 on the season, which has them in sixth in the AJHL South.

Blackfalds will look to rebound Saturday on home ice when they entertain the Canmore Eagles for the second time this week. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. at the Eagle Builders Centre.
