Bulldogs down 2-0 versus Oilers

The Blackfalds Bulldogs dropped a 2-1 decision Saturday in Okotoks to the Oilers.

The Oilers took a 1-0 lead 8:14 into the first when Conyr Hellyer jammed home his first of the series past Lucas Massie, who made 27 saves in a losing cause. The Bulldogs answered the call just 24 seconds later when Nick Magis directed home his first of the post-season, tying the game at one.

Okotoks went up 2-1 after Rieger Lorenz beat Lucas Massie upstairs for his first of the series 3:46 into the second stanza on the power play. Late in the period, Ryan Johnson was denied twice by Jack McNaughton, who turned away 26 shots for the win.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third period as the Oilers hung on for the win and the 2-0 series lead.

The Bulldogs will now take a couple of days off before hosting the Okotoks Oilers Tuesday night at the Eagle Builders Centre for game three. Tuesday’s game is set for 7 p.m.

Blackfalds will also welcome Okotoks to town Wednesday for game four.
