Bulldogs come up short versus Oilers

The Blackfalds Bulldogs suffered their second straight loss when they dropped a 4-2 decision Wednesday on home ice to the Okotoks Oilers.

Dean Spak opened the scoring 3:22 into first period when he beat Jackson Glassford, who made 16 saves in a losing cause.

The Bulldogs tied the game at one 10:00 into the frame on the power play when Jayden Joly tipped home his eighth of the season. Blackfalds went up 2-1 17:51 into the first after Brett Meerman notched his eighth of the season.

Neither team would find the back of the net in the second period. The Oilers tied the game at two 2:35 into the third on the power play when Sam Huck tallied. Kade Turner gave the Oilers a 3-2 edge 6:55 into the third on the man advantage when he sent a shot from the perimeter past Glassford. Brody Maguire added an empty-netter 19:21 into the third to seal the victory.

With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 12-16-1 on the campaign, which has them in sixth in the AJHL South.

Blackfalds will look to rebound Friday night at the Eagle Builders Centre when they host the Canmore Eagles. The Bulldogs will then conclude their weekend Saturday in Okotoks versus the Oilers.
