The Blackfalds Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 decision Friday at home to the Canmore Eagles.
The Eagles opened the scoring 7:05 into the first when Kyle Young beat Jackson Glassford, who made 22 saves in a losing cause. Canmore took a 2-0 edge 10:26 into the first after Austin Lusok notched his first of the season. Kyle Young would score his second of the evening 14:45 into the opening frame as the Eagles led 3-0.
The Bulldogs got on the board 14:59 into the first when Kaiden Ellertson ripped the puck off the post and past Andreai Proctor-Ramirez, who made 32 saves for the victory. Neither team would find the back of the net in the second period.
With Jackson Glassford on the bench for the extra attacker late in the game, Adam Heindel sent a seeing-eye shot past Proctor-Ramirez for his fourth of the campaign, making it a 3-2 contest. The comeback bid would fall short and the Eagles would fly out of Blackfalds with two points.
With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped to 12-17-1 on the season, which still has them in sixth in the AJHL South.
Blackfalds will look to end a three-game slide Saturday night in Okotoks when they meet the Oilers for the second time this week.
