Bulldogs clip Wolverines

The Blackfalds Bulldogs returned to the win column Thursday in Red Deer when they beat the Whitecourt Wolverines 3-1 at Servus Arena.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring 9:48 into the first period when Corey McCann took a feed and rifled home his first of the season past William Grimard, who made 24 saves in the loss.

The Wolverines tied the game at one 9:22 into the second after Dylan Leslie recorded his first of the season. The Bulldogs restored their lead with just four seconds left in the second stanza when Nick Magis banked in his fourth of the campaign.

Jayden Joly added an empty-netter to seal the victory with 30 seconds remaining in the third period. Lucas Massie was brilliant for the Bulldogs and the California product turned away 21 shots for the victory.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 4-9 on the season, which has them in sixth in the AJHL South Division. Blackfalds is back in action Oct. 27 in Olds when they meet the Grizzlys for the second time this season.

Following next Wednesday’s game, the Bulldogs travel to Grande Prairie Oct. 29 and Whitecourt Oct. 30.
