Bulldogs clip Eagles

The Blackfalds Bulldogs recorded their second straight win Sunday in Canmore when they beat the Eagles 3-1.

The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the board when Carter Yarish banked home his first AJHL goal just 2:03 into the first frame. The Eagles tied the game at one following Carter Myrol’s first of the season 12:22 into the stanza.

Following a massive 5-on-3 penalty kill late in the first frame, the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead. Kirk Mullen found the back of the net with just 10 seconds left in the period for his first AJHL marker.

Neither team scored in the second. Blackfalds added some insurance 3:38 into third when Jace Benvie backhanded home his first goal with the Bulldogs.

Will Dyke recorded his first AJHL win Sunday with a 32-save performance. At the other end of the ice, Andreai Proctor-Ramirez turned away 34 shots in a losing cause.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the campaign. Blackfalds will look for its third straight victory Tuesday in Calgary when they battle the Canucks for the first time this season.

Following Tuesday’s contest, the Bulldogs will face the Fort McMurray Oil Barons Friday afternoon at the AJHL Showcase in Brooks.
