The Blackfalds Bulldogs announced Thursday they have acquired 2001-born defenceman Juliano Santalucia from the Calgary Canucks in exchange for a PDF and future considerations.
“He’s a guy we need to play in our top pairings,” said Al Parada, director of hockey operations with the Blackfalds Bulldogs. “He’s a highly skilled offensive defenceman who is going to bring experience and stability to our blueline.”
Santalucia hails from Burnaby, B.C. and has spent the last four seasons in the AJHL and the BCHL. He started his junior hockey career with the Olds Grizzlys during the 2017-18 season as a 16-year-old.
“I’m super excited to join the team, meet the guys and I’m looking forward to getting on the ice,” said Santalucia. “I’m a two-way defenceman who can play both ends of the ice and I feel I’m a very strong skater.”
Meantime, the Bulldogs will look for their second straight win on Sunday in Canmore when they meet the Eagles for the first time this season at 2 p.m.
Following Sunday’s contest, Blackfalds travels to Calgary Tuesday for a date with the Canucks.
