The Blackfalds Bulldogs announced Wednesday they have acquired 2001-born forward Nick Magis from the Flin Flon Bombers (SJHL) in exchange for a PDF.
“He’s going to bring experience, leadership and a ton of speed to our team,” said Al Parada, the director of hockey operations with the Blackfalds Bulldogs. “He’s one of the best faceoff guys in the league. He will solidify our group down the middle.”
Magis, a Leduc product, has spent the last two seasons in the AJHL with the Sherwood Park Crusaders. In 14 games during the 2020-21 campaign, Magis recorded six points and 34 penalty minutes.
“I’m very excited to be able to join the Bulldogs in their inaugural season,” said Magis. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the boys in the room and become a good leader on and off the ice. I can’t wait to get things started here in Blackfalds. I’m a versatile, 200-foot player who can play wing and centre. I’m a guy who likes to toss my body around as well.”
In a separate deal, the Bulldogs traded 2001-born defenceman Tristan Lambert to the La Ronge Ice Wolves (SJHL) in exchange for a PDF. The Bulldogs wish Tristan the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Meantime, the Bulldogs are back in action Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. when they meet the Fort McMurray Oil Barons at the AJHL Showcase in Brooks. The Bulldogs conclude their weekend schedule Saturday morning in Brooks when they face the Bonnyville Pontiacs at 10:30 a.m.
You can catch both games from Brooks on the Bulldogs Radio Network with Braden Malsbury.
